extremely unimpressed said Jim Wong's is awful for waiting ages for mediocre food

    Barkly Street, Footscray, VIC, Australia

23 Aug 2008. My partner and I went to Jimmy Wong’s in Footscray last night (7.10pm), it took them 15 minutes to bring out the entrees (3 fried dim sims, supposedly the house specialty, but nothing to write home about + 1 sesame prawn, very oily) and then a further 35 minutes for them to bring out the mains, which we ordered at the same time as the entrees (1 dish chilli beef, 1 dish chicken + vegies).

The meals came out altogether uninspiring compared to the many other fine options that are available in Footscray, and indeed, Melbourne. It totally smacked of food court mall food, that had been sitting around in a bain marie just a tad too long. Not impressive at all.

Can I say anything positive about the restaurant? Unfortunately, not! The atmosphere was awful, all we could hear at our table was the radio blaring from the kitchen on some commercial station and other patrons grumbling about the long wait time (and trying to get the attention of the waiting staff), all who have mastered the art of ignoring their customers totally.

Nothing was complimentary, no prawn crackers, no green tea even! Don’t bother going to Jimmy Wong’s, it’s truly not worth it.

Adam Fitzgerald said The Dancing Dog Cafe Supports it's Local Community

    Albert Street, Footscray, VIC, Australia

Central venue in Footscray for all local cultural events. The owners go out of their way to support and showcase a wide range of local culture and talents.

Excellent friendly service, and great coffee and cakes to boot.

Great place to hang out and absorb the vibrant culture that is Footscray.

    Gordon Street, Footscray, VIC, Australia

Excellent traditional and gourmet pizzas. Great quality toppings, perfect base. Very impressive. Even home delivery is good (so good in fact last time I ordered I was so impressed I had to ring to let them know…)

45 Moreland St, Footscray, 3011, VIC, Australia

The Happy River Cafe is Kid Friendly and ‘goes off’ on Sunday mornings – especially if the weather is good and the outdoor seating and kids toys are in full use!

Jimmy Wong’s has the best Chinese Food this side of the Flower Drum. Try the Dim Sims voted #1 in Melbourne by listeners of 3AW. I have to say I agree.
