The Saint said You can buy Cheap and excellent thai food at warwick thai

Sydney Rd, Brunswick, VIC 3056, Australia

Hi all, Warwick Thai has THE best Thai Cuisine in Melbourne. People flock here and rave about it. The service staff need to do better but Geoff and Victoria are great. Word is that Victoria used to own Thaila Thai and taught her Vietnamese kitchen hand to cook before she left. We all love Warwick Thai but you better book in advance as crowds flock here in big numbers sometimes. Bring cash, no cards.

This is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever been to. I am not one to write scathing reviews but this restaurant took the mickey. Whatever you order on their menu, it comes out with big, undercooked pieces of vegetables (cauliflower, onion, green capsicum etc) and a splash of the sauce you asked for and a few bits of hard meat. The plates of food are enormous to compensate on such tasteless food that does not in the slightest resemble something from Thailand.
I have been to Thalia Thai as well and found it an equally un-Thai experience. If the restaurants did not claim to be Thai, I would simply think of them as Chinese fusion restaurants.
If you want good Thai food, these are not the places to go.

Anna Y said A1 Bakery is great for Lebanese baking

645 Sydney Rd, Brunswick, VIC 3056, Australia

Try the cheese pies for Haloumi cheese goodness and spinach and cheese for the fresh spinach. The Labne yoghurt with Lebanese bread baked on the by bakery is spectacular. So are the dips. Coffee shop has been expanded in the last year great place to go for coffee and snack on a Saturday morning. The chairs are a weird (visit and see) but its a great place.

not quite as good as Thaila Thai, but it’s still great, is BYO, is housed in a beautiful old hall, and it’s huge, so it’s usually not long to get a table, the food is delicious (sometime a smidge salty) and the serving proportions very generous. The menu is almost identical to Thaila and I think they share the same owner.

fresh quality produce, huge serves, great flavours – I never bother to go anywhere else for Thai, nothing compares to this for quality, taste and value.
the only bad – can be slow service, but hey; it’s BYO, does takeaway, and is always worth the wait.
