This is a great store at the Prahran Market. The fruit and Vegetables are excellent quality and they only stock organic and biodynamic produce. They have a huge range of organic grocery items, and heaps of organic and preservative free wine. The staff are kind of wacky, but they are helpful and fun.

Pretty good coffee, although they seem to use rich full-cream milk which I’m not too fond of, so I have to ask for a skinny.

The coffee is amazing and I seem to be quite a coffee snob, so you won’t be disappointed…Also, great scrambled egg breakfasts and an eclectic selection of vinyl records playing around the clock. The staff are inviting and the cafe also serves wine, liquor and beer for an afternoon in the sun, just off Chapel Street. I definitely recommend this little joint, cheers!

I’ve heard good things about Dr. Michael Anderson.

If you like fried, artery-clogging, gigantic pub meals, then eat here. Parmas, burgers and chips galore! Guiness and Kilkenny on tap and it doubles up as a backpackers.

What a great pub. It’s been there for years but is now owned by a husband and wife team (ex Walters Wine Bar in Southbank). The atmosphere is great, the decor very chic and relaxed and the food terrific. They’ve even got Trumner beer on tap – one of the best beers around (Austrian). Wine list is very, very reasonable, staff attentive and relaxed . All it needs is wireless and I’d relocate my office there!

The Swan was a derelict, sticky carpet pub (nothing wrong with character) but now the sons have taken over and have given the pub a facelift. It has great, inexpensive pub food. (Parma around $15)
It’s unusual for Chapel St, being pretty much prat free, well presented and family friendly. Bar out the front where people hang on the cricket or football scores. Tables and kitchen out the back. The dining area is pretty comfortable, spacious and calmer except for the odd energetic child in a batman costume.

Very tasty yum cha. This place started out as a Chinese furniture store and the food came later. I wanted to lie down on the big bed on the way in.
It’s quietly tucked away down a side street off Chapel St up near Dandenong Road. Some delicious seafood dumplings. Scallops. mmmm yum! Great Sunday hangover remedy.
The staff are nice and it’s peaceful and slightly kookie.

a cozy restaurant that’s good for a quiet get-together with a small group of friends, a romantic dinner or a second (or third?) date. Great wine and beer list and interesting menu.

Oh my! Turkey, cranberry, brie in delicious crusty bread. And, others to choose from – including chorizo, goat’s cheese, relish and rocket!

It’s one of those weird fake wood (but really gas fired) ones. Still throws out cosy heat.
