this is a greatr place for unusual size nuts bolts and threads and building anchors. They don’t mind selling just 1 bolt and they offer great advice.

bev buttercup said Station 59 is great for pub food

59 Church St, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia

Went in on a wednesday and got $10 parmas bigger than the plate! Funky little place, they seem to be slowly fixing it up so it has a rough around the edges vibe which i really liked.. Bar chick was awesome, really friendly. Definitely be going back.

194 Bridge Rd, Richmond, 3121, VIC, Australia

I go to paddingtons on richmonds bridge rd at least twice a year… i usually go just before winter to get the latest styles and to see what everyone will be wearing when it gets cold. Just picked up my pre winter trench coat!!! its a beautiful brown i think i have just convinced myself to go back for the red version as well. the great helpful and personal service is well worth mentioning. Thanks again Paddingtons I will be telling everyone to visit (everyone always stops and asks me where i get my coats anyway)

deano sevenhundred said Boheme is good for dinner and drinks

368 Bridge Rd, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia

It’s a huge room, with a nice subdued dark timber sort of feel, but nevertheless it’s quite informal. There are large-ish sofas with tables if you want to sit and drink with friends, and there are plenty of proper tables if you’re eating. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable.

The menu is simple and not terribly interesting, but most of the common bases are covered. Breakfasts are pretty good and I often go there for an Eggs Benedict after having a swim on the weekend.

They have tables outside, but unfortunately they’re right on the corner of Bridge and Coppin so it can be pretty noisy. Also, the wait-staff aren’t always paying attention to the outside tables, so you sometimes have to make yourself known before you sit down outside.

deano sevenhundred said Olmecs is awful for dinner and drinks

408 Bridge Rd, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia

The food is the sort of slop I’d make at home when I couldn’t be bothered.

The wait-staff seem to be school kids who just have no idea. I’ve been there recently and having ordered a glass of shiraz, was bought a glass of white wine!

The room itself is a large, noisy, brasserie-style room with a plasma screen tv playing sport with the volume up too high. There are tables outside, but the wait staff seem to ignore them. You have to go inside and find someone to give you a menu.

deano sevenhundred said The Groove Train is good for dinner and drinks

314 Bridge Rd, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia

The food is sometimes good and sometimes not so good – it depends who’s cooking on the night. I’ve been there several times and ordered the same dish, but it comes out quite different each time. The service goes up and down, but they’re generally pretty friendly – just a bit slow.

On the plus side, it’s a pretty extensive menu and the place always seems to be pumping. They have a decent (but not spectacular) wine list. They’re also usually open reasonably late when other places in the bridge rd strip are closed. They have a nice outdoor area with plastic screens and heaters, so you’re insulated from the road noise, plus you can dine even when the weather’s quite mild.

deano sevenhundred said Kojo Brown is good for dinner and drinks

294 Bridge Rd, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia

The food’s good, but the service is pretty patchy. If you sit down outside, you need to get the waiter’s attention otherwise you never get to see a menu. It’s reasonably priced and the specials are usually pretty good. They have tables on the street and they have heaters, umbrellas and some awnings, so you can dine outside even when it’s not that warm.

deano sevenhundred said Grace is good for dinner and drinks

306 Bridge Rd, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia

The menu is fairly interesting in that they go beyond the usual parma-and-chips stuff you get in a lot of bridge rd places. The service is competent but can be slow even when they’re not that busy. They have tables outside on the street, but even better, they have a kind of recessed terrace in the front of the room so you can dine there even when the weather’s a bit mild.

deano sevenhundred said New York Tomato is great for breakfast or lunch

2 New St, Richmond, VIC 3121, Australia

The coffee and breakfasts are great. Weekday lunches are sensational, cos it’s a bit less busy. It gets a bit full-on on a weekend though.

They have a little courtyard with one big communal table (sits 8-12) and about 6 other tables. There’s seating upstairs but it can get a bit hot up there on a warm day.

Makes a great change from all those down market baby barns around town. Nice to find somewhere pleasant to shop and feel like the people serving really do care. Fantastic music – not a nursery rhyme to be heard!

  • Stevie Sammartino

Stevie Sammartino said Tweek is fair for coffee

266 Bridge Rd, Richmond, VIC 3121, Australia

Had a coffee there this morning and it was Ok. It is a real retro style cafe with some old style italian kitchen chairs and a late 1960’s feel. The coffee was pretty good – Hey it’s Melbourne, coffee is always good. But for me it looked a bit too grungy to eat at.

  • Tom Howard

Tom Howard said Flavours of Lakhoum is awful for breakfast, since it changed hands

175 Swan Street, Richmond, 3121, VIC, Australia

Tried it yesterday for the first time since the new owners took over about a month or so ago.
Being realistic enough to expect it not to be quite up to its former standard, I was rather breath-taken on being served eggs that had been prepared in an egg-poacher and ended up more like rubber hockey pucks than the creamy albumen delights one is accustomed to.
Their famous haloumi cheese was similarly disappointing, blackened on one side but otherwise unaltered by heat.
To their credit, the turkish sausage was sizzled with relative competence, and the avocado sliced to my satisfaction, so I didn’t go completely hungry.

Tom Howard said Swan Hotel is good for watching sport

293 Swan St, Richmond, VIC 3121, Australia

Multiple screens showing different footy games and other sports.

Acceptable range of beers (Coopers, not Goat), heaps of space, and the fireplace in the front bar is nice.

On the downside, it is, after all, the Swan.
