Had a coffee there this morning and it was Ok. It is a real retro style cafe with some old style italian kitchen chairs and a late 1960’s feel. The coffee was pretty good – Hey it’s Melbourne, coffee is always good. But for me it looked a bit too grungy to eat at.

Tried it yesterday for the first time since the new owners took over about a month or so ago.
Being realistic enough to expect it not to be quite up to its former standard, I was rather breath-taken on being served eggs that had been prepared in an egg-poacher and ended up more like rubber hockey pucks than the creamy albumen delights one is accustomed to.
Their famous haloumi cheese was similarly disappointing, blackened on one side but otherwise unaltered by heat.
To their credit, the turkish sausage was sizzled with relative competence, and the avocado sliced to my satisfaction, so I didn’t go completely hungry.

Multiple screens showing different footy games and other sports.
Acceptable range of beers (Coopers, not Goat), heaps of space, and the fireplace in the front bar is nice.
On the downside, it is, after all, the Swan.

Good range of beers (including Richmond’s own Mountain Goat!), nice cosy front bar with stools and comfy couches, although it would pack out pretty quickly.

Huge, and only $10 on Wednesday nights, although it gets pretty packed.
I’ve generally given the Richmond Club a wide berth but they really seem to have got it together these days.

One of the best breakfast menus in Melbourne, a true hidden gem.
But don’t turn up with more than 6 people or you’ll be turned away – or yelled at.

Their Penang curry is as good as any I’ve had in Thailand, and the fish cakes and curry puffs in the mixed entrees are heart-attack-a-riffic.
They have a variety of seating options, including traditional floor seating in the front, and an outdoor area in the back if the weather’s warm.
You can also enjoy their fare with a tasty Mountain Goat or Little Creatures, by ordering over the bar at the Great Britain Hotel just up the street.

Pizza is terrible. Salty and dry. The staff are disgusting.

Not really a foccacia so much as a lightly crusty roll with cooked veggies. It’s okay, but not the best.
Service is great though, very friendly and helpful.

Picked up some of gifts for our friends (who are expecting twin boys – that makes it 4 for 4). This place reminds me a lot of Pottery Barn for Kids in the US.

The best parma I’ve had in a long long time. Hands down.
