This was our first experience at East Imperial and it was absolutely wonderful. Staff were very friendly, professional and attentive. Food was delicious, a high standard of presentation and quality. We will definitely be back.

Garage Cafe is a great place to enjoy a bite of cheap and good quality Indonesian cuisine on a Saturday night, and check out the nice cars that often show up. The eating area is right next to the internal parking space, so that you can look at cars while eating your food. Very cool idea.

Well Jed you actually hav’nt been there recently.It was a year ago. Food is fantastic you should try dining there again.Staff are friendly. this pub is a hidden treasure in the heart of carlton. If you don’t believe me go and see for your self. I give it 4 stars and that is coming from someone who dines out a lot.

they are the real deal when it comes to old school Italian food. The entire menu rocks and the staff are friendly. You get served very quickly and the foodalways coMes out in a jiffy. This is because the menu is limited and the place is always busy. They serve wine in super cute old style glasses you’d expect a little bibite (softdrink) to come in. The restaurant provides a unique environment to eat in, not like ordinary Chiniese restaurants. Staffs are friendly and helpful. House-special dinner dishes including typhoon prawns (Manager Joe’s recommendation), fresh from oven peking duck and award winning entree dish prawn-in-the-pond are just the few fansinating dishes on their menu. Good value for money, and will for sure go back and try again!

I’ve had some wonderful creamy potatoes from here, my favourite is the Aussie with garlic butter – fresh, simple and filling. They also offer vegie burgers, vegan cheese and butter.
Only drawback is their takeaway spud containers are polystyrene.

I’ve only been to East Imperial for yum cha once but I’ll definitely be going back again. This well-decorated restaurant provides such an elegant and comfortable atmosphere that is just way ahead of ordinary Chinese restaurants like those in Chinatown and Richmond. Straightaway you feel like you have stepped into a different age (dynasty?) behind those big wooden front doors. Common dim sum dishes can all be found, with some added special dishes such as Wasabi Prawns and Spicy Calamari Tentacles. Vegetarian dishes like Spinach Dumplings can also be found on the menu. Over 100 wine, including some rare ones, and a variety of Chinese beers are listed in their comprehensive wine list, which added some extra points over standard yum cha restaurants. Waitstaffs are friendly and helpful, and food price is reasonable, given that their dim sum are more well-made than the others. A thumb-up yum cha place that Chinese food lovers just can’t miss.

My partner and I both work in the Hospitlaity industry and dine out in Melbourne frequently. Neither of us have ever experienced such poor service. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for an enjoyable night out. Appauling customer service.
