they have chocolate eggs/bunnies etc., from various countries and some good Australian chocolate too. They have these cool-looking choc eggs wrapped in exotic tissue papers. Not sure how they taste, and they’re not cheap, but they do look cool. I’m sure they’re nice.

they also sell giant choc-perppermint frogs! yum

intimate, professional french restaurant with small seasonal menu, knowledgable staff, small but good wine list.
The food is consistently excellent, the prices surprisingly not too expenssive for the quality of the dishes, the atmosphere is lovely, and touches like french linens just add to the perfection.

see and be seen, it’s a very cool place, very cool. Luckily as much effort goes into the food as has gone into the interior design. I wouldn’t call it fine dining though – it’s too casual, and the food’s hawker-style. It’s pretty expensive, not outrageous though.
Sydney Rd, Brunswick, VIC 3056, Australia
not quite as good as Thaila Thai, but it’s still great, is BYO, is housed in a beautiful old hall, and it’s huge, so it’s usually not long to get a table, the food is delicious (sometime a smidge salty) and the serving proportions very generous. The menu is almost identical to Thaila and I think they share the same owner.
Lygon St, Brunswick, VIC, Australia
fresh quality produce, huge serves, great flavours – I never bother to go anywhere else for Thai, nothing compares to this for quality, taste and value.
the only bad – can be slow service, but hey; it’s BYO, does takeaway, and is always worth the wait.

hoegaarden and lots of interesting others on tap. sit out the front in the sun for a beer at this elegant stylish hotel with an amazing kitchen.
Bank St, New York, NY 10014, USA
cool pub, the only actual cool pub in south melbourne in fact. they have an open fire, resident cat, $12.50 steaks on wednesday (good steak too) big shady beer garden, cool staff, good music, a pool table, space, history and fascinating oddities of decor scattered about the place.

They have Erdinger (faulous german wheatbeer) on tap, as well as great bistro meals at decent prices

Wonderful new hotel has been beautifully re-imagined and re-designed (formerly this was the red eagle hotel building but thankfully Nest is far, far removed from that aesthetic). The interior is cool and elegant, the colourful awnings add personality, the staff is inviting, friendy and knowledgable about the food, wine and beer served.
The dining room is small and professionally run and currently selling amazing food matched by an accessible and interesting wine list, at a bargain – get in while they’re new, I’m sure prices will go up.
They’ve got a bisto menu too, nothing over about $18 and lots of great beers too, both on tap and in bottles.
Grab a 500m glass of hoegaarden (if you can lift it), sit on a street-side table and catch the afternoon sun rays – it’s a treat!

not only that, it has lots of interesting Belgian and Gernan beers by the bottle, good, generously sized pub meals and a fine dining restaurant that is still pretty inexpensive (am sure prices will go up though)
