These guys do OK coffee and their book selection is really nice. Staff are friendly and there is a little table outside for coffee in the sun.
They are set up for mums (and dads!) with bubs, as they have a change room out back, and a box of toys for the kids to play with. There is also a sign saying they encourage mothers groups.
Unfortunately the kids bookshelf has lots of ‘nice’ books down low where they can be grabbed & pulled out, which of course means you’re constantly worried they’re going to break something! If they re-arranged the kids area with ‘readable’ old books down low it would be perfect.

Green Grocer is my favourite favourite place for Breakfast north of the river. The food is divine, everything is organic & super fresh and the coffee is just right. Service is mostly pretty good sometimes a little slow when it’s busy, but usually not too bad.

No-one here is friendly and a service ethic is clearly not encouraged by management, who are probably the worst offenders. The staff don’t acknowledge you, they gossip amongst themselves and with visiting friends, and don’t make eye contact when they eventually have to deal with you. Table service is practically non-existent. I had to clear my own table last time i went. I also had to get up to order an extra coffee cos no-one came near us after the initial order. The only reason I go here is because it is open earlier than anything else in Westgarth and has plenty of space to cater for friends with babies/prams.

The food here is really average. I don’t want to look at my plate and think.. i could do better than this at home. Sliced white supermarket bread, plain old poached eggs, bit of bacon plonked on the side. Not saying it tasted horrible or anything, but with the standard of competition in Melbourne, you’ve gotta do better than this to get my vote.

Green Grocer is not just GOOD for breakfast, it’s amazing. The Green Grocer (pancakes) Breakfast is my favourite breakfast in melbourne. YUM YUM YUMMY!!!

I love this pizza. Like, really. It’s the only one i can order when i go there. I try to order something else, and it just keeps dragging me back in. I may be obsessed.
