"Great. I loooove my food and have had yum cha in most of the Chinese reataurants in Melbourne city and tell you what, I was so excited when I found Jackie’s – it is not just the best in the city but also one of the best in Melbourne! Enjoy my friends." - Angel Ng

"Great. I’ve only been to East Imperial for yum cha once but I’ll definitely be going back again. This well-decorated restaurant provides such an elegant and comfortable atmosphere that is just way ahead of ordinary Chinese restaurants like those in Chinatown and Richmond. Straightaway you feel like you have stepped into a different age (dynasty?) behind those big wooden front doors. Common dim sum dishes can all be found, with some added special dishes such as Wasabi Prawns and Spicy Calamari Tentacles. Vegetarian dishes like Spinach Dumplings can also be found on the menu. Over 100 wine, including some rare ones, and a variety of Chinese beers are listed in their comprehensive wine list, which added some extra points over standard yum cha restaurants. Waitstaffs are friendly and helpful, and food price is reasonable, given that their dim sum are more well-made than the others. A thumb-up yum cha place that Chinese food lovers just can’t miss." - Peter Chan

"Good. Used to be “The Black Prince” pub, a great old pre club haunt in the hedonistic days of the Nineties! Now a great Yum Cha house but also very pricey, but ohhh sooo goooood!" - Mick Van Raay

"Great. Very tasty yum cha. This place started out as a Chinese furniture store and the food came later. I wanted to lie down on the big bed on the way in.
It’s quietly tucked away down a side street off Chapel St up near Dandenong Road. Some delicious seafood dumplings. Scallops. mmmm yum! Great Sunday hangover remedy.
The staff are nice and it’s peaceful and slightly kookie." - Edward Borland

"Good. Haven’t actually been there yet but heard good things about it from friends. It has also featured in this year’s Cheap Eats guide. Here is a snippet from the review:
"Dumplings and jasmine tea make for perfect bedfellows, especially in one of Red Door’s Beijing marriage beds. Down a grungy side street, this Chinese antique store now serves yum cha and you can consummate your dim sum amid ornate bird cages and turn of the century tea chests. There are steamed buns stuffed with sweet morsels of bbq pork, spicy lamb jiao zi (dumplings) in edible translucent wrappers, and a dome of sticky rice studded with mushroom. Follow with endless pots of tea and addictive coconut custard buns that pull apart to reveal a lemon yellow colour burst. "
Mmmmm sounds delicious :)" - Anne Chiew

"Great. This is not a snippet from an age review or a rating based on what my ‘friend said is good’. I have eaten here. Many times. It is wonderful. I have dined with visiting businessmen from Hong Kong, China and Singapore who all positively swooned when they tasted the delightful treats at Red Emperor. Comparable to any dim sum in Hong Kong." - Adam Fitzgerald

"Good. Some of the best in Melbourne, though a little on the pricey side. Right on the Yarra & Queens Bridge too so not a bad view!" - Mick Van Raay

"Fair. ok yum cha but missing the vibe and ‘authenticity’ of traditional yum cha restaurants. A bit streamlined and ‘clean’ for me – also the meals were way too quick to come out – no time to digest in bwn!" - Rebecca Griffiths
