Was out in the beer garden, it was a hot day, the drinks were ice cold and the food was just Amazing!! Have also been there for a few functions over the years and I would recommend this place for any function, of any size, as they have a few different spaces depending on the numbers. I will definately be having my next function there, hopefully in the beer garden!! Will also be back during winter when they get the log fires going for a Reds and a Steak!

This is South Melbourne’s premier pub – evidenced by the awards it keeps on winning!
I live nearby and the quality of the food, relaxed atmosphere and the staff are what sets it apart from the rest.

This place pumps out restaurant quality food at pub prices in a friendly environment.
The 3 fire places and awesome courtyard make it the place to be in South Melbourne.

This place has been pumping out great food for years now – it’s website says since 1857!
I have been living around the corner for a while (not 153 years) and its been my regular dinner haunt for a long time.
The Monday to wednesday $14 specials are great value.
On Monday its the chefs special, tuesday its Curry night and Wednesday it’s there famous Steak night.
I’ve tried all the local steak nights and this one is, by far, the BEST.

This is clearly Melbourne’s best, traditional, pub beer garden.
Sure Riverland is good – but it’s far from a ‘real’ beer garden.
True Beer gardens are the likes of The Railway, The Standard, The Retreat or The Windsor Castle.
Each are inviting, warm, shady and traditional local pubs – not some rooftop conversion or some public space in a pretty location.
These are the real things.
