About Docoloco

Docoloco is really just two guys with a top drawer full of sugar and a few big ideas. Chris Mander and Johnny Cussen met at LookSmart Australia. Chris was pushing pixels and Johnny was doing business. They discovered that they shared a love for a new generation of Web products. These products put their members at the centre of the universe and were setting a new standard for online experiences. After LookSmart Johnny went off to work for a large yellow pages company and Chris started an advertising agency. But whenever they caught up they’d find themselves talking about what was wrong with local search. So they started Docoloco to build something that helps local businesses have conversations with local people.

Docoloco uses very simple interactivity and social network capabilities to make sense of our neighbourhoods and the places in them: the places we love and the places we love to hate. People complete short simple sentences to describe a place. The Docoloco system extracts information from those simple sentences and sorts recommendations into rated lists and conversation streams around places, topics and people. You follow topics, people, neighborhoods, or a particular place and Docoloco will keep you posted on new recommendations. Docoloco is focused on Australian neighbourhoods for now but the system is enabled for a really long list of countries.

Docoloco is currently self funded and raising a first round of capital.

While we build up Docoloco and look for a way to pay some people salaries:

They both do vision, ethos, and day-job juggling acts.
